This appears from the street as a large white rendered neo-Georgian two storey house but at the rear was originally finished in dull facing brickwork and separated from its garden by an array of attached sheds and a conservatory. Archadia has transformed the property by adding a three storey extension across the width of the house to increase the accommodation for the client’s growing family.
The extension is expressed as two adjoining two-storey gables with the second floor within the roof spaces. The white rendered finish provides a contemporary feel and unifies the house as an architectural composition. Particularly successful is the stone floor finish in the living areas which runs through from the inside of the room to form a large external south facing terrace on the exterior.
The building work was procured via a conventional tender process involving several local contractors and Archadia provided a full architectural service at the site stage involving site inspections and dealing with financial issues and technical issues on behalf of the client and successful contractor.
