Archadia Breakfast Seminar
Archadia Architects would like to invite you to a breakfast seminar exploring options for existing housing stock;
UNLOCK THE POTENTIAL OF SHELTERED HOUSING
Date: 22nd May
Location: Boardroom, Build Studios, 203 Westminster Bridge Road, London SE1 7FR, www.buildstudios.co.uk
Since its inception housing for older people has developed dramatically. Sheltered housing offers a preventative solution to housing our ageing population, but unfortunately many of the existing schemes are no longer fit for purpose.
This seminar will explore the current planning policies and legislation applying to housing for older people with a focus on future proofing existing sheltered housing sites. It will introduce design tools and strategic analysis that can be used to assess the capacity of existing schemes to meet needs and respond to the aspirations of older people, as well as financial implications of any changes. The group will reflect on the complexities of managing projects that affect existing residents while trying to unlock valuable assets.
Archadia will present innovative case studies that have adopted different approaches to existing sheltered stock; retain and improve, remodelling and redevelopment. We will also showcase HAPPI standard multi-tenure retirement and extra care housing that would be capable of attracting existing tenants out of larger homes.
This Seminar will be led by Mark Slater Archadia Director and Sophie Morley Archadia Associate. It would be useful for anyone involved in the older persons housing sector, in particular those in Local Authorities and Housing Associations with existing sheltered stock.
